Blog Post Module 1: Reflection Prompt

  In your own words, how would you explain what evolution is? In my own words, evolution is a concept that proposes all life forms diverged from one common ancestor. It is the history of all things living.  Do you think that evolution is a fact or is it a theory? I think evolution is a theory heavily supported with facts. Scientists have observed and recorded evidence of organisms displaying evolved traits passed down from previous generations. These facts support the theory of evolution and solidify the foundation of the overall field. However, there is still room for debate. Although evolution is highly accepted in the scientific community, it is still a theory, but the theory best fit to explain the changes of organisms across generations on earth.

  What is your name, where are you from, and where do you hope to go? My name is Shaun Baughman and I’m from Garden City, KS. I hope to go on to complete my bachelors degree in biology here at Kansas State University as well as graduate from a masters program, but I’m not sure which particular program just yet.  What is something you are passionate about? Something I’m passionate about is painting/drawing. I mostly work with acrylic paint, water colors, and oil pastels. I don’t really have a specific style, I usually just ask my family and friends what they want to be drawn/painted for them so that they have something for their rooms/offices. I enjoy this because it lets me try out all kinds of styles that I wouldn’t have sought after myself.  What fascinates you about evolution or biology in general?
